Camping Skills weekend
This is a weekend course to give you a taste of wild camping and is aimed at those who would like to spend time off the beaten track or would like to do some of the long distant paths. Or maybe just a weekend away with a difference!
These trips are open to individuals, couples and small groups
..
We start on Saturday morning with a short walk to find a suitable camp site, were we will set up camp. We will talk over the best terrain to use, how to pitch your tent with regard to the weather and any available natural shelter. We will use a variety of tents for this to enable you to compare available designs. We will spend the afternoon looking at the different kinds of equipment on the market, where you can get it from, and how much it will cost.
As the evening comes in we will look at cooking in the outdoors, cooking stoves, how to have a fire safely, and menu ideas. We will round off with a quiet evening, a nightcap and a good night's sleep.
On Sunday, after a good fry-up breakfast, we will spend the morning looking at walking and camping from an environmental point of view and leaving no trace wherever you go. We will break camp after lunch and be back for late afternoon.
The weekend is inclusive of equipment and all food, including lunch and dinner on Saturday and breakfast and lunch.
You will be required to carry some camping equipment.
Cost £150 per person
